Row House

The course is described as: understanding the nature of background buildings with design focusing on residential and/or commercial buildings in a traditional small town or urban neighborhood. Following a precedent study and project, I applied the precedent information to class projects located in the city of Niles, MI. These included a flex and corner flex mixed-use buildings and row houses done with a variety of media—pencil, colored pencil, water colors, and SketchUp. Although not required, I engineered the structural system (with knowledge gained in structures class) for all of my designs. Commercial buildings include features that allows natural daylight to flow deep into building while reducing the suns intensity during the summer months.

Row House drawings are on display at Andrews University.
