My Craft Studio class studied precedent-setting architecture in the historical traditional Heritage Hills neighborhood in Grand Rapids, MI. Each student then designed a traditional home, for an empty corner lot, that fits the context of the area, and met a specified criteria, which included: homes between 1400- 1800 square feet (mine is 1400), two story, detached garage with living space above, front porch, rear patio/ garden area, three bedrooms, ADA entry, etc. The structure is timber framed with SIP panels that I took one step further by making sure my American Four Square design could easily be converted to stick framing. Drawings were displayed at Andrews University.
